Selection of my writings published by outlets such as The LumberJack at HSU, Savage Henry Independent Times (S.H.I.T.), and Emerald Magazine.
Aloha Humboldt

The Emerald Magazine
Article on a small local cannabis farm trying to make it amidst “legalization,” or as I consider it prohibition 2.0 with a whole new host of legal obstacles and expense to grow a plant that should never have been made illegal.
Damn those Dams

The LumberJack
Article on push for dam removal on the Klamath River, which have flooded sacred lands, decimated salmon habitat, and poisoned the strangled rivers with toxic algae. The largest dam removal in history has recently been carried out.
Prolific Pro-Palestine Protest follows Shoebat appearance

The LumberJack
Walid Shoebat, a Palestinian and alleged former Muslim Brotherhood terrorist spoke at Humboldt State University. He became Christian and is now pro-Israel. A forceful reaction of protest ensued outside the event and amongst the crowd.
CSU’s Future Looks Bleak

The LumberJack
Cover story I wrote for The LumberJack at HSU regarding the outlook on the budget crisis plagued 23-university California State University (CSU) system. Focuses on a sparsely attended event for Alliance for the CSU, started by then CSU Chancellor Charles Reed.
Budget Meeting Shrouded in Secrecy

The LumberJack
In 2009 a budget meeting appeared to illegally be held in secret by HSU’s administration without student representation. The fallout for this article prompted my editor to chastise my reporting as potentially souring administrative cooperation on future articles.
Amazon deforestation endangers global climate

The LumberJack
Environmentalist author Peter Buyard presented “Amazon Basin: A Critical Factor in Forming Local, Regional, and Global Climate,” at HSU. Through my thoughtful non-alienating critical questions of the global warming narrative Bunyard noted the importance of deforestation over carbon dioxide. He was confronted by a Chilean, Mariela Phelan-Cacares, on CIA deforestation operations allegedly to fight the drug war.
Sticky Situations on the Web

Savage Henry Independent Times (S.H.I.T.)
Article on contraindications of internet use Topics include pedestrian road kill, lice, porn, trolls, psychos, piracy, dating, eye-damage, hypochondria, conspiracy, big data, and celebrity psychosis.
Lucky Charms Facts

Savage Henry Independent Times (S.H.I.T.)
A selection of items associated with luck are the subject of this piece. Includes a personal experience of my first encounter with Lucky Charms.
Safety Six Feet Under

This is an anti-vaccine flash fiction piece I wrote in 2009 for a friends website. It was attacked by a vile character in the comments and ended up getting deleted.
Contradictory to Freedom

Opinion piece in response to a Jim Hightower’s piece, “Keep your chip out of my arm” (12/16/2007) on Real ID and plans to chip people. States have deferred Real ID for years, but it is now being carried out as “mandatory.” Most people have no idea that a passport is a valid substitute.
